Daniel Stowe Conservancy is honored to partner with our sponsor Gaston Day School to present The Edible Garden of Language: Food as Poetic Invocation.

Join poet Kashiana Singh for a sensory poetry workshop rooted in gardens, food, and memory. Through scent, touch and taste, we’ll explore how ancestral kitchens and natural spaces stir language. Come to write, reflect, and harvest metaphors that bloom from soil, simmering pots and the stories we carry.

About Kashiana Singh

Kashiana Singh is a poet, immigrant, corporate leader and grandmother who, through poetry, walks the line between legacy and the unknown. She anchors her existence in Work as Worship, which is also the topic of her TEDx Talk.

Her chapbook Crushed Anthills (Yavanika Press) took readers on a poetic journey across 10 cities. Her full-length collections—Woman by the Door (2022, Apprentice House Press) and Witching Hour (2024, Glass Lyre Press)—explore resilience, belonging, and transformation as life’s birthing house. Her latest, Dualities of Albireo, was just released by The Poetry Box.

Based in North Carolina, Kashiana wears many hats: Managing Editor of Poets Reading the News, President of the North Carolina Poetry Society, Program Ambassador for the Matwaala Collective, and Vice President in healthcare services. Yet, it’s the roles of “poet-grandma” and “everyday wonder-seeker” that keep her grounded.

She is a 2025 Fellow at the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and a VONA cohort member. She is passionate about teaching workshops that evoke poetry through food, ancestry, and memory.
